This type of Valterra slide gate valve was originally designed for the Pool & Spa Industry to hold higher pressures compared to the bolted versions. It is typically used to hold back Above background pool, Hot Tub or Spa water while the filter is being changed or maintenance is being done on the pump but has many other applications. It has a one-piece (body and fittings) UniBody configuration which is made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

In 1971 Bert Grengs started Grentec Inc., a plastic injection molding company in Burbank, CA. They began manufacturing RV gate valves, RV toilets, plumbing fittings, and some of Southern California’s iconic plastic skateboards like the “banana board”.
