Growing up in the pool business, Jerry Hodak observed pool owners draining thousands of gallons of water from their pools every winter, only to pay to refill their pools again in the spring. Wanting to create a solution, in 1989 Jerry Hodak invented the first 2 part skimmer closer system with a faceplate and snap-on lid for winterizing skimmers. Many years later, he created a better 2 part method of winterizing the skimmer utilizing a smaller, better-fitting lid and was awarded another patent in 2006 providing many improvements over his original patent, including accessibility to hardware for tightening and ease of installation and a lid that uses 40 percent less plastic, greatly reducing landfill waste.
