Common Pool Liner Questions and Concerns

We hope this article has helped shed some light on our Best Replacement Pool Liners of 2024. However you may have many more questions about our liners, or questions before you make your decision. We have compiled a short list of some of our most common questions below:

Q: Which thickness is the best for my pool?

A: Some people might have a set thickness but it will not guarantee a longer lifespan or add to the quality of the liner. The thickness of vinyl is not the most important aspect. We always recommend that you choose a liner pattern first.

Q: What do I need for a Liner Quote?

A: When quoting a liner, we will need: Your Pool Length, Width, Shallow End Depth, and Deep End Depth. If you have any area that the liner covers outside of your pool dimensions (i.e. Steel Steps, Tanning Ledges, Benches) we would need those as well to make sure the liner is cut to fit your pool exactly!

Q: How accurate do my measurements need to be?

A: While exactness is always recommended, we understand that sometimes taking measurements can be difficult. Your liner has a lot of give and will stretch into place, measurements have around an inch for margin of error. Always install your liner on a warm, sunny day for the best fit.

Q: Can I measure my pool while it is still full?

A: Yes. Sometimes you may need to keep using the pool, or have it full while looking for a replacement, and you can certainly still take full dimensions while keeping your pool running. The recommended way to take depths with water, is to attach a weight to a string or line, draping it over board placed from one corner to the next, and mark off where the string intersects the pool wall to measure distance from back wall as well as the deep end point. We have a more in depth guide you can check out on our YouTube page, or at the bottom of any of our pages on the website!

Q: Where is my Serial Number located?

A: All Hydra Liners will have their serial number located on the center of your deep end, on the side facing you pool wall. While many other manufacturers may place their serial number in the same location, Hydra Liners Serial Number are always eight digits long.

Q: How do I know what type of liner bead I have?

A: One of the less noticeable aspects of your liner is the Bead Fastener that fits into your coping track. This is the thin top sown onto the edge of your liner, and what fastens your pool into place. There are a few variations from what is common on liner today – with all displayed below for visual comparison. If you do have a non-standard bead no reason to worry! We can still remake older styles, however make sure you let us know while quoting or placing your liner order.
